BMW ConnectedDrive Driver Assistance systems in the BMW 2 Series Coupé.

The BMW 2 Series Coupé is already equipped with a reliable front-seat passenger in the form of numerous assistance systems from BMW ConnectedDrive. They support the driver and allow for the enjoyment of a unique driving experience. They give timely warning when needed and help you park. The vehicle lends a hand when you're manoeuvring with the Rear View camera acting as a third eye. The BMW 2 Series Coupé is a reliable partner that lets you concentrate on the most important thing en route, the road.

The Driving Assist equipment warns you of an unintentional lane change at speeds from approx. 70 km/h by means of vibrations in the steering wheel. The warning is not activated if the lane change is deliberate, in other words the turn indicator has been activated. If a collision with other vehicles or pedestrians is imminent, the collision and pedestrian warning with city braking function warns the driver in good time and brakes in an emergency.

The iDrive Touch Controller enables the iDrive system to be conveniently operated with a single hand. Thanks to the touchpad integrated in the Controller, the driver can easily enter information such as destinations in the navigation system using his or her own handwriting. It can also be used to access and configure numerous functions and scroll through lists. Operating the system is very simple and intuitive (based on a sense of touch). This makes life especially easy for the driver, since it keeps distraction from traffic to an absolute minimum. All functions operated using the Controller can be conveniently viewed in the Control Display.

It's better to be safe than sorry. The Speed Limit Info including no-overtaking indicator displays the current speed limit as well as information on no-overtaking zones. This is shown on the Info Display in the instrument cluster. A special camera detects the relevant traffic signs. This information is processed by a control unit along with data from the navigation system. By incorporating additional features of the car, the system can also calculate variable speed limits, for instance in wet conditions or at different times of the day. This equipment is only available in conjunction with the Navigation System Business or Professional.

The Park Assist makes parallel parking easier. Upon request, the system measures any parking spaces the vehicle passes when driving at low speeds (below 35 km/h). When a suitable space has been found, the driver turns on the indicator and the Park Assist takes over the steering, while the driver continues to operate the gears, accelerator and brakes. During this process, the system provides directions in the Control Display and additional acoustic signals. The result is a safer, less stressful parking experience.

The Rear View camera allows you to view the area behind the car in the Control Display while manoeuvring and parking. The rear view camera enhances visibility when reversing at speeds below 20 km/h, for example when parking. Interactive track lines indicate whether the chosen parking space is big enough for the car and support the driver during parking by marking areas in colour on the Control Display. In conjunction with the tow hitch, the rear view camera makes the approach when hooking up a trailer easier with a practical zoom function.
